Kareela is a NSW suburb in Sutherland LGA, matched to postcode 2232 — also covering Audley, Bonnie Vale, Garie and nearby localities. New rental bonds in that postcode had a median weekly rent of $702 in 2025, up 3.2% from $680 in 2024. That is close to the NSW median of $695. Bond medians describe new lodgements with Fair Trading, not every current lease in the suburb. Kareela recorded 52 criminal incidents in the 12 months to March 2026, down 24.6% from 69 a year earlier. These are police-recorded incidents, not convictions, and they are not adjusted for how many people live or visit here. House bonds typically leased at $900 a week and flats/units at $650. Townhouse bonds sat at $880 a week. Two-bedroom bonds had a median of $680; three-bedroom bonds $900. One-bedroom bonds sat at $550 a week. Four-bedroom bonds sat at $1,200 a week. Half of new bonds sat between $620 and $850 a week. Fair Trading recorded 1,094 new bonds in the postcode in 2025. Over 2021–2025 the postcode median moved from $520 to $702 a week. Because several suburbs share the postcode, the rent charts are a postcode picture, not a street-level one. Property offences totalled 16 and violent-related offences 27. Intimidation, stalking and harassment made up the largest published share (14 incidents, 27%). Next was Assault (11). The crime series is coded to this suburb name; the rent series, where shown, is the whole postcode.
