Gymea is a NSW suburb in Sutherland LGA, matched to postcode 2227 — also covering Gymea Bay. New rental bonds in that postcode had a median weekly rent of $840 in 2025, up 9.4% from $768 in 2024. That is about 21% above the NSW median of $695. Bond medians describe new lodgements with Fair Trading, not every current lease in the suburb. Gymea recorded 350 criminal incidents in the 12 months to March 2026, down 10.9% from 393 a year earlier. These are police-recorded incidents, not convictions, and they are not adjusted for how many people live or visit here. House bonds typically leased at $1,025 a week and flats/units at $690. Townhouse bonds sat at $920 a week. Two-bedroom bonds had a median of $700; three-bedroom bonds $950. One-bedroom bonds sat at $570 a week. Four-bedroom bonds sat at $1,225 a week. Half of new bonds sat between $680 and $1,050 a week. Fair Trading recorded 319 new bonds in the postcode in 2025. Over 2021–2025 the postcode median moved from $600 to $840 a week. Because several suburbs share the postcode, the rent charts are a postcode picture, not a street-level one. Property offences totalled 91 and violent-related offences 97. Transport regulatory offences made up the largest published share (78 incidents, 22%). Next was Theft (67). The crime series is coded to this suburb name; the rent series, where shown, is the whole postcode.
