Bond medians describe new lodgements with Fair Trading, not every current lease in the suburb. Cataract recorded 33 criminal incidents in the 12 months to March 2026, up 57.1% from 21 a year earlier. These are police-recorded incidents, not convictions, and they are not adjusted for how many people live or visit here. House bonds typically leased at $600 a week and flats/units at $480. Townhouse bonds sat at $515 a week. Two-bedroom bonds had a median of $485; three-bedroom bonds $600. One-bedroom bonds sat at $380 a week. Four-bedroom bonds sat at $720 a week. Half of new bonds sat between $480 and $650 a week. Fair Trading recorded 2,543 new bonds in the postcode in 2025. Over 2021–2025 the postcode median moved from $410 to $570 a week. Because several suburbs share the postcode, the rent charts are a postcode picture, not a street-level one. Property offences totalled 21 and violent-related offences 6. Theft made up the largest published share (15 incidents, 46%). Next was Assault (5). The crime series is coded to this suburb name; the rent series, where shown, is the whole postcode.
