Appin is a NSW suburb in Wollongong LGA, matched to postcode 2560 — also covering Airds, Ambarvale, Blair Athol and nearby localities. New rental bonds in that postcode had a median weekly rent of $570 in 2025, up 5.6% from $540 in 2024. That is about 18% below the NSW median of $695. Bond medians describe new lodgements with Fair Trading, not every current lease in the suburb. Appin recorded 175 criminal incidents in the 12 months to March 2026, up 15.1% from 152 a year earlier. These are police-recorded incidents, not convictions, and they are not adjusted for how many people live or visit here. House bonds typically leased at $600 a week and flats/units at $480. Townhouse bonds sat at $515 a week. Two-bedroom bonds had a median of $485; three-bedroom bonds $600. One-bedroom bonds sat at $380 a week. Four-bedroom bonds sat at $720 a week. Half of new bonds sat between $480 and $650 a week. Fair Trading recorded 2,543 new bonds in the postcode in 2025. Over 2021–2025 the postcode median moved from $410 to $570 a week. Because several suburbs share the postcode, the rent charts are a postcode picture, not a street-level one. Property offences totalled 81 and violent-related offences 51. Theft made up the largest published share (53 incidents, 30%). Next was Assault (25). The crime series is coded to this suburb name; the rent series, where shown, is the whole postcode.
