Bond medians describe new lodgements with Fair Trading, not every current lease in the suburb. Thornton recorded 895 criminal incidents in the 12 months to March 2026, up 28.2% from 698 a year earlier. These are police-recorded incidents, not convictions, and they are not adjusted for how many people live or visit here. House bonds typically leased at $650 a week and flats/units at $520. Townhouse bonds sat at $620 a week. Two-bedroom bonds had a median of $500; three-bedroom bonds $600. One-bedroom bonds sat at $350 a week. Four-bedroom bonds sat at $710 a week. Half of new bonds sat between $550 and $700 a week. Fair Trading recorded 931 new bonds in the postcode in 2025. Over 2021–2025 the postcode median moved from $450 to $640 a week. Because several suburbs share the postcode, the rent charts are a postcode picture, not a street-level one. Property offences totalled 309 and violent-related offences 255. Theft made up the largest published share (223 incidents, 25%). Next was Transport regulatory offences (134). The crime series is coded to this suburb name; the rent series, where shown, is the whole postcode.
