Berkeley is a NSW suburb in Wollongong LGA, matched to postcode 2506. New rental bonds in that postcode had a median weekly rent of $620 in 2025, up 8.8% from $570 in 2024. That is about 11% below the NSW median of $695. Bond medians describe new lodgements with Fair Trading, not every current lease in the suburb. Berkeley recorded 665 criminal incidents in the 12 months to March 2026, down 17.5% from 806 a year earlier. These are police-recorded incidents, not convictions, and they are not adjusted for how many people live or visit here. House bonds typically leased at $625 a week and flats/units at $520. Townhouse bonds sat at $745 a week. Two-bedroom bonds had a median of $560; three-bedroom bonds $625. Four-bedroom bonds sat at $700 a week. Half of new bonds sat between $580 and $700 a week. Fair Trading recorded 142 new bonds in the postcode in 2025. Over 2021–2025 the postcode median moved from $462 to $620 a week. Property offences totalled 243 and violent-related offences 190. Theft made up the largest published share (173 incidents, 26%). Next was Against justice procedures (106). The crime series is coded to this suburb name; the rent series, where shown, is the whole postcode. The two windows are not identical: rents are calendar year, recorded crime is the 12 months to March 2026. Some person-offence categories are not itemised here because suburb geography under-counts them.
