West Ballina is a NSW suburb in Ballina LGA, matched to postcode 2478 — also covering Ballina, Ballina Dc, Coolgardie and nearby localities. New rental bonds in that postcode had a median weekly rent of $770 in 2025, up 10.0% from $700 in 2024. That is about 11% above the NSW median of $695. Bond medians describe new lodgements with Fair Trading, not every current lease in the suburb. West Ballina recorded 458 criminal incidents in the 12 months to March 2026, up 48.7% from 308 a year earlier. These are police-recorded incidents, not convictions, and they are not adjusted for how many people live or visit here. House bonds typically leased at $800 a week and flats/units at $600. Townhouse bonds sat at $780 a week. Two-bedroom bonds had a median of $600; three-bedroom bonds $780. One-bedroom bonds sat at $428 a week. Four-bedroom bonds sat at $900 a week. Half of new bonds sat between $625 and $870 a week. Fair Trading recorded 1,001 new bonds in the postcode in 2025. Over 2021–2025 the postcode median moved from $600 to $770 a week. Because several suburbs share the postcode, the rent charts are a postcode picture, not a street-level one. Property offences totalled 307 and violent-related offences 69. Theft made up the largest published share (279 incidents, 61%). Next was Assault (36). The crime series is coded to this suburb name; the rent series, where shown, is the whole postcode.
