Tathra is a NSW suburb in Snowy Monaro LGA, matched to postcode 2550 — also covering Angledale, Bega, Bemboka and nearby localities. New rental bonds in that postcode had a median weekly rent of $500 in 2025, unchanged from $500 in 2024. That is about 28% below the NSW median of $695. Bond medians describe new lodgements with Fair Trading, not every current lease in the suburb. Tathra recorded 40 criminal incidents in the 12 months to March 2026, down 46.7% from 75 a year earlier. These are police-recorded incidents, not convictions, and they are not adjusted for how many people live or visit here. House bonds typically leased at $525 a week and flats/units at $400. Townhouse bonds sat at $620 a week. Two-bedroom bonds had a median of $450; three-bedroom bonds $540. One-bedroom bonds sat at $360 a week. Four-bedroom bonds sat at $610 a week. Half of new bonds sat between $441 and $590 a week. Fair Trading recorded 306 new bonds in the postcode in 2025. Over 2021–2025 the postcode median moved from $400 to $500 a week. Because several suburbs share the postcode, the rent charts are a postcode picture, not a street-level one. Property offences totalled 12 and violent-related offences 10. Other offences made up the largest published share (13 incidents, 32%). Next was Theft (9). The crime series is coded to this suburb name; the rent series, where shown, is the whole postcode.
