Sefton is a NSW suburb in Cumberland LGA, matched to postcode 2162 — also covering Chester Hill. New rental bonds in that postcode had a median weekly rent of $670 in 2025, up 3.1% from $650 in 2024. That is about 4% below the NSW median of $695. Bond medians describe new lodgements with Fair Trading, not every current lease in the suburb. Sefton recorded 268 criminal incidents in the 12 months to March 2026, down 13.8% from 311 a year earlier. These are police-recorded incidents, not convictions, and they are not adjusted for how many people live or visit here. House bonds typically leased at $740 a week and flats/units at $550. Townhouse bonds sat at $740 a week. Two-bedroom bonds had a median of $560; three-bedroom bonds $700. One-bedroom bonds sat at $380 a week. Four-bedroom bonds sat at $900 a week. Half of new bonds sat between $550 and $820 a week. Fair Trading recorded 433 new bonds in the postcode in 2025. Over 2021–2025 the postcode median moved from $450 to $670 a week. Because several suburbs share the postcode, the rent charts are a postcode picture, not a street-level one. Property offences totalled 103 and violent-related offences 85. Theft made up the largest published share (77 incidents, 29%). Next was Assault (53). The crime series is coded to this suburb name; the rent series, where shown, is the whole postcode.
