Portland is a NSW suburb in Lithgow LGA, matched to postcode 2847 — also covering Pipers Flat. New rental bonds in that postcode had a median weekly rent of $400 in 2025, up 8.7% from $368 in 2024. That is about 42% below the NSW median of $695. Bond medians describe new lodgements with Fair Trading, not every current lease in the suburb. Portland recorded 169 criminal incidents in the 12 months to March 2026, down 6.6% from 181 a year earlier. These are police-recorded incidents, not convictions, and they are not adjusted for how many people live or visit here. House bonds typically leased at $420 a week. Half of new bonds sat between $372 and $492 a week. Fair Trading recorded 31 new bonds in the postcode in 2025. Over 2021–2025 the postcode median moved from $330 to $400 a week. Because several suburbs share the postcode, the rent charts are a postcode picture, not a street-level one. Property offences totalled 64 and violent-related offences 54. Theft made up the largest published share (45 incidents, 27%). Next was Assault (26). The crime series is coded to this suburb name; the rent series, where shown, is the whole postcode. The two windows are not identical: rents are calendar year, recorded crime is the 12 months to March 2026. Some person-offence categories are not itemised here because suburb geography under-counts them.
