Penrose is a NSW suburb in Upper Lachlan LGA, matched to postcode 2579 — also covering Big Hill, Brayton, Exeter and nearby localities. New rental bonds in that postcode had a median weekly rent of $600 in 2025, up 9.1% from $550 in 2024. That is about 14% below the NSW median of $695. Bond medians describe new lodgements with Fair Trading, not every current lease in the suburb. Penrose recorded 8 criminal incidents in the 12 months to March 2026. These are police-recorded incidents, not convictions, and they are not adjusted for how many people live or visit here. House bonds typically leased at $600 a week. Four-bedroom bonds sat at $670 a week. Half of new bonds sat between $511 and $700 a week. Fair Trading recorded 94 new bonds in the postcode in 2025. Over 2021–2025 the postcode median moved from $465 to $600 a week. Because several suburbs share the postcode, the rent charts are a postcode picture, not a street-level one. Counts this small swing easily from year to year and should not be read as a trend on their own. Property offences: 4. Violent-related offences: 3. The crime series is coded to this suburb name; the rent series, where shown, is the whole postcode. The two windows are not identical: rents are calendar year, recorded crime is the 12 months to March 2026.
