Oak Flats is a NSW suburb in Shellharbour LGA, matched to postcode 2529 — also covering Balarang, Blackbutt, Dunmore and nearby localities. New rental bonds in that postcode had a median weekly rent of $750 in 2025, up 7.1% from $700 in 2024. That is about 8% above the NSW median of $695. Bond medians describe new lodgements with Fair Trading, not every current lease in the suburb. Oak Flats recorded 414 criminal incidents in the 12 months to March 2026, up 9.8% from 377 a year earlier. These are police-recorded incidents, not convictions, and they are not adjusted for how many people live or visit here. House bonds typically leased at $780 a week and flats/units at $600. Townhouse bonds sat at $750 a week. Two-bedroom bonds had a median of $600; three-bedroom bonds $750. One-bedroom bonds sat at $510 a week. Four-bedroom bonds sat at $880 a week. Half of new bonds sat between $630 and $850 a week. Fair Trading recorded 813 new bonds in the postcode in 2025. Over 2021–2025 the postcode median moved from $560 to $750 a week. Because several suburbs share the postcode, the rent charts are a postcode picture, not a street-level one. Property offences totalled 158 and violent-related offences 101. Theft made up the largest published share (128 incidents, 31%). Next was Intimidation, stalking and harassment (46). The crime series is coded to this suburb name; the rent series, where shown, is the whole postcode.
