Barrack Heights is a NSW suburb in Wollongong LGA, matched to postcode 2528 — also covering Barrack Point, Lake Illawarra, Mount Warrigal and nearby localities. New rental bonds in that postcode had a median weekly rent of $630 in 2025, up 8.6% from $580 in 2024. That is about 9% below the NSW median of $695. Bond medians describe new lodgements with Fair Trading, not every current lease in the suburb. Barrack Heights recorded 396 criminal incidents in the 12 months to March 2026, down 2.7% from 407 a year earlier. These are police-recorded incidents, not convictions, and they are not adjusted for how many people live or visit here. House bonds typically leased at $670 a week and flats/units at $500. Townhouse bonds sat at $680 a week. Two-bedroom bonds had a median of $520; three-bedroom bonds $660. One-bedroom bonds sat at $412 a week. Four-bedroom bonds sat at $800 a week. Half of new bonds sat between $530 and $700 a week. Fair Trading recorded 603 new bonds in the postcode in 2025. Over 2021–2025 the postcode median moved from $450 to $630 a week. Because several suburbs share the postcode, the rent charts are a postcode picture, not a street-level one. Property offences totalled 128 and violent-related offences 139. Theft made up the largest published share (89 incidents, 22%). Next was Against justice procedures (87). The crime series is coded to this suburb name; the rent series, where shown, is the whole postcode.
