Highfields is a NSW suburb in Lake Macquarie LGA, matched to postcode 2289 — also covering Adamstown, Adamstown Heights, Garden Suburb and nearby localities. New rental bonds in that postcode had a median weekly rent of $720 in 2025, up 10.8% from $650 in 2024. That is about 4% above the NSW median of $695. Bond medians describe new lodgements with Fair Trading, not every current lease in the suburb. Highfields recorded 32 criminal incidents in the 12 months to March 2026, up 10.3% from 29 a year earlier. These are police-recorded incidents, not convictions, and they are not adjusted for how many people live or visit here. House bonds typically leased at $750 a week and flats/units at $560. Townhouse bonds sat at $795 a week. Two-bedroom bonds had a median of $590; three-bedroom bonds $750. One-bedroom bonds sat at $450 a week. Four-bedroom bonds sat at $900 a week. Half of new bonds sat between $590 and $820 a week. Fair Trading recorded 626 new bonds in the postcode in 2025. Over 2021–2025 the postcode median moved from $540 to $720 a week. Because several suburbs share the postcode, the rent charts are a postcode picture, not a street-level one. Property offences totalled 21 and violent-related offences 8. Theft made up the largest published share (20 incidents, 62%). Next was Assault (4). The crime series is coded to this suburb name; the rent series, where shown, is the whole postcode.
