Taren Point is a NSW suburb in Sutherland LGA, matched to postcode 2229 — also covering Caringbah, Caringbah South, Dolans Bay and nearby localities. New rental bonds in that postcode had a median weekly rent of $750 in 2025, unchanged from $750 in 2024. That is about 8% above the NSW median of $695. Bond medians describe new lodgements with Fair Trading, not every current lease in the suburb. Taren Point recorded 120 criminal incidents in the 12 months to March 2026, up 33.3% from 90 a year earlier. These are police-recorded incidents, not convictions, and they are not adjusted for how many people live or visit here. House bonds typically leased at $1,100 a week and flats/units at $650. Townhouse bonds sat at $1,100 a week. Two-bedroom bonds had a median of $700; three-bedroom bonds $1,000. One-bedroom bonds sat at $540 a week. Four-bedroom bonds sat at $1,400 a week. Half of new bonds sat between $610 and $1,050 a week. Fair Trading recorded 959 new bonds in the postcode in 2025. Over 2021–2025 the postcode median moved from $580 to $750 a week. Because several suburbs share the postcode, the rent charts are a postcode picture, not a street-level one. Property offences totalled 59 and violent-related offences 24. Theft made up the largest published share (49 incidents, 41%). Next was Assault (15). The crime series is coded to this suburb name; the rent series, where shown, is the whole postcode.
