Somerton is a NSW suburb in Liverpool Plains LGA, matched to postcode 2340 — also covering Appleby, Barry, Bective and nearby localities. New rental bonds in that postcode had a median weekly rent of $456 in 2025, up 6.0% from $430 in 2024. That is about 34% below the NSW median of $695. Bond medians describe new lodgements with Fair Trading, not every current lease in the suburb. Somerton recorded 26 criminal incidents in the 12 months to March 2026, up 18.2% from 22 a year earlier. These are police-recorded incidents, not convictions, and they are not adjusted for how many people live or visit here. House bonds typically leased at $480 a week and flats/units at $350. Townhouse bonds sat at $450 a week. Two-bedroom bonds had a median of $370; three-bedroom bonds $470. One-bedroom bonds sat at $290 a week. Four-bedroom bonds sat at $580 a week. Half of new bonds sat between $370 and $540 a week. Fair Trading recorded 2,151 new bonds in the postcode in 2025. Over 2021–2025 the postcode median moved from $350 to $456 a week. Because several suburbs share the postcode, the rent charts are a postcode picture, not a street-level one. Property offences totalled 17 and violent-related offences 5. Theft made up the largest published share (15 incidents, 58%). Next was Assault (3). The crime series is coded to this suburb name; the rent series, where shown, is the whole postcode.
