Prestons is a NSW suburb in Fairfield LGA, matched to postcode 2170 — also covering Casula, Casula Mall, Chipping Norton and nearby localities. New rental bonds in that postcode had a median weekly rent of $600 in 2025, up 3.4% from $580 in 2024. That is about 14% below the NSW median of $695. Bond medians describe new lodgements with Fair Trading, not every current lease in the suburb. Prestons recorded 585 criminal incidents in the 12 months to March 2026, down 11.0% from 657 a year earlier. These are police-recorded incidents, not convictions, and they are not adjusted for how many people live or visit here. House bonds typically leased at $700 a week and flats/units at $522. Townhouse bonds sat at $660 a week. Two-bedroom bonds had a median of $550; three-bedroom bonds $680. One-bedroom bonds sat at $480 a week. Four-bedroom bonds sat at $850 a week. Half of new bonds sat between $480 and $700 a week. Fair Trading recorded 4,327 new bonds in the postcode in 2025. Over 2021–2025 the postcode median moved from $400 to $600 a week. Because several suburbs share the postcode, the rent charts are a postcode picture, not a street-level one. Property offences totalled 290 and violent-related offences 186. Theft made up the largest published share (232 incidents, 40%). Next was Assault (95). The crime series is coded to this suburb name; the rent series, where shown, is the whole postcode.
