Mittagong is a NSW suburb in Wingecarribee LGA, matched to postcode 2575 — also covering Alpine, Aylmerton, Balaclava and nearby localities. New rental bonds in that postcode had a median weekly rent of $650 in 2025, up 8.3% from $600 in 2024. That is about 6% below the NSW median of $695. Bond medians describe new lodgements with Fair Trading, not every current lease in the suburb. Mittagong recorded 411 criminal incidents in the 12 months to March 2026, up 4.3% from 394 a year earlier. These are police-recorded incidents, not convictions, and they are not adjusted for how many people live or visit here. House bonds typically leased at $682 a week and flats/units at $480. Townhouse bonds sat at $550 a week. Two-bedroom bonds had a median of $500; three-bedroom bonds $650. One-bedroom bonds sat at $418 a week. Four-bedroom bonds sat at $780 a week. Half of new bonds sat between $550 and $750 a week. Fair Trading recorded 388 new bonds in the postcode in 2025. Over 2021–2025 the postcode median moved from $575 to $650 a week. Because several suburbs share the postcode, the rent charts are a postcode picture, not a street-level one. Property offences totalled 145 and violent-related offences 113. Theft made up the largest published share (109 incidents, 26%). Next was Assault (56). The crime series is coded to this suburb name; the rent series, where shown, is the whole postcode.
