Lewisham is a NSW suburb in Inner West LGA, matched to postcode 2049 — also covering Petersham, Petersham North. New rental bonds in that postcode had a median weekly rent of $695 in 2025, up 1.5% from $685 in 2024. That is close to the NSW median of $695. Bond medians describe new lodgements with Fair Trading, not every current lease in the suburb. Lewisham recorded 262 criminal incidents in the 12 months to March 2026, up 1.6% from 258 a year earlier. These are police-recorded incidents, not convictions, and they are not adjusted for how many people live or visit here. House bonds typically leased at $900 a week and flats/units at $660. Townhouse bonds sat at $1,100 a week. Two-bedroom bonds had a median of $800; three-bedroom bonds $1,100. One-bedroom bonds sat at $588 a week. Four-bedroom bonds sat at $1,300 a week. Half of new bonds sat between $530 and $825 a week. Fair Trading recorded 984 new bonds in the postcode in 2025. Over 2021–2025 the postcode median moved from $450 to $695 a week. Because several suburbs share the postcode, the rent charts are a postcode picture, not a street-level one. Property offences totalled 159 and violent-related offences 53. Theft made up the largest published share (139 incidents, 53%). Next was Assault (24). The crime series is coded to this suburb name; the rent series, where shown, is the whole postcode.
