Gilgai is a NSW suburb in Gwydir LGA, matched to postcode 2360 — also covering Auburn Vale, Brodies Plains, Bukkulla and nearby localities. New rental bonds in that postcode had a median weekly rent of $390 in 2025, up 5.4% from $370 in 2024. That is about 44% below the NSW median of $695. Bond medians describe new lodgements with Fair Trading, not every current lease in the suburb. Gilgai recorded 45 criminal incidents in the 12 months to March 2026, up 12.5% from 40 a year earlier. These are police-recorded incidents, not convictions, and they are not adjusted for how many people live or visit here. House bonds typically leased at $410 a week and flats/units at $310. Townhouse bonds sat at $430 a week. Two-bedroom bonds had a median of $320; three-bedroom bonds $410. One-bedroom bonds sat at $250 a week. Four-bedroom bonds sat at $490 a week. Half of new bonds sat between $330 and $450 a week. Fair Trading recorded 476 new bonds in the postcode in 2025. Over 2021–2025 the postcode median moved from $320 to $390 a week. Because several suburbs share the postcode, the rent charts are a postcode picture, not a street-level one. Property offences totalled 11 and violent-related offences 18. Intimidation, stalking and harassment made up the largest published share (9 incidents, 20%). Next was Assault (6). The crime series is coded to this suburb name; the rent series, where shown, is the whole postcode.
