Ashley is a NSW suburb in Gwydir LGA, matched to postcode 2400 — also covering Bullarah, Crooble, Mallowa and nearby localities. New rental bonds in that postcode had a median weekly rent of $350 in 2025, up 6.1% from $330 in 2024. That is about 50% below the NSW median of $695. Bond medians describe new lodgements with Fair Trading, not every current lease in the suburb. Ashley recorded 20 criminal incidents in the 12 months to March 2026. These are police-recorded incidents, not convictions, and they are not adjusted for how many people live or visit here. House bonds typically leased at $390 a week and flats/units at $278. Two-bedroom bonds had a median of $300; three-bedroom bonds $380. One-bedroom bonds sat at $250 a week. Four-bedroom bonds sat at $520 a week. Half of new bonds sat between $270 and $420 a week. Fair Trading recorded 425 new bonds in the postcode in 2025. Over 2021–2025 the postcode median moved from $260 to $350 a week. Because several suburbs share the postcode, the rent charts are a postcode picture, not a street-level one. Property offences totalled 8 and violent-related offences 6. Malicious damage to property made up the largest published share (5 incidents, 25%). Next was Assault (3). The crime series is coded to this suburb name; the rent series, where shown, is the whole postcode. The two windows are not identical: rents are calendar year, recorded crime is the 12 months to March 2026.
